Thoughts for Thursday...books, DWTS, walking, etc.

Things I am thinking about today...

  • The pretty trees, quickly turned to leaves falling on my lawn, during the blustery, cold day we had yesterday. And, this may sound strange, but I really love to walk on cold, windy days in the fall. I like the leaves swirling around and the wind blowing the branches, as I walk through the woods. It is nice to get bundled up and go outside in the cold and then come back inside to a fire in the fireplace and a hot drink.

  • My book club is reading The Magic Room, by Jeffrey Zaslow and while I look forward to going to book club next week and seeing my friends, this book is not one of my favorites. It is the story of a family owned, bridal salon in the small town of Fowler, Michigan. The author alternates between the bridal salon's history and stories of the brides who have purchased their wedding gowns there. I thought that it would be about mothers and daughters, their relationships and the emotions involved in shopping for a wedding gown. The stories were not particularly compelling to me and I should be interested in this subject, since I have two daughters. My book club will find something to discuss even if the book is not that appealing - we always manage to have lively conversations :-)

  • This week, DWTS was interesting. I was sad to see Drew Lachey go and Bristol Palin stay. Whatever your politics, it is annoying that they even have a place in a television show about dancing. I think Shawn Johnson is my new favorite - so much energy!
  • The Detroit Tigers will be playing the Oakland A's in a game 5 division series final tonight - I'll be watching and very nervous. Happy Thursday!

  2. I agree - there is something wonderful about walking in the cool wind with leaves blowing around you then going back home with a delightfully red face and big smile :) Have a blessed day!

  3. Morning, Vicki. I love to walk on a cool morning with the leaves falling all around, too. I enjoy hot apple cider on these Autumn days.
Hubby is from Detroit and will be watching, too. Hope you enjoy your day. Mildred

  4. Shawn Johnson is just adorable. You can't not love her.

I'm so envious of your leaves turning colors! Waco doesn't have many trees with leaves that fall (and they don't turn colors until late November-ish), so I'm living vicariously through you!

    Happy Thursday, Vicki!

  5. I always feel sorry for Bristol, but want her to go. Drew definitely shouldn't have gone, I think Kristie, although entertaining also needs to leave. Emmett Smith is my favorite, always smiling! And I love Shawn Johnson as well. Made your chicken chili and it was a hit! My husband is a bit of a picky eater and he gobbled it up! Easy to make too. Love the picture of the leaves and I really enjoy Jeff Zaslow, but haven't read this book. I've read him as a columnist for years. And yes, I was in a book club where everything but the book were discussed! Ann

Thanks so much for linking up again this week.

    The leaves look lovely.

Am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your book
It's terrible when you are looking forward to a good read and then are disappointed.
Let's hope the next book is better!

    Have a lovely weekend.
