Two Books

There are two books I have read in the past week that I wanted to share. Both are beautifully written novels with charming characters and are really easy and interesting reads.

First, The All You Can Dream Buffet by Barbara O' Neal is a sweet story of a group of food bloggers who come together to celebrate the 85th birthday of their mentor. The setting is an organic lavender farm in coastal Oregon and the descriptions of plants, food and scenery are just beautiful. Of special interest is the behind the scenes look at blogging and the blogging process. There are excerpts from their daily blog posts, recipes and what blogging means to them. They became friends on line, but are now real life friends in every way. It is a wonderful story about how women's friendships can support each other and lift each other, when they most need it.

If you watch the Real Housewives of New York City, you have probably heard more than you care to about Carole Radziwill's new novel, but don't let that stop you from reading it. I loved her first book and memoir What Remains and very much enjoy her beautiful writing style. This story, while not a memoir, is a sassy account of an eventful first year of widowhood. Since Carole Radziwill has experienced this in her own life, we are left to wonder how much of this she lived, including the character's love affair with a charming movie star, similar to her own with George Clooney. This book is witty, smart and funny.

Happy Reading!
