New Year's Celebrations in Photos

We spent our New Year's Eve in a resurgent and vibrant downtown Detroit and spent our New Year's Day at home watching our MSU Spartans win a thrilling game in the Cotton Bowl. All in all, a great start to 2015.

We began the night at Fishbones in Greektown, which was hopping with New Year's revelers. I started the night with my traditional favorite martini; a cosmopolitan. After a couple drinks, we jumped on the shuttle and made the short trip to Joe Louis Arena for the Red Wings game.

It had been a New Year's tradition to attend the wings game before celebrating at midnight elsewhere, but there hasn't been a New Year's eve game for a few years. We were happy to be back and to make it even better, the wings won.

We took the shuttle back to Fishbones to ring in the New Year with a fun dinner, complete with party hats and champagne. Happy to celebrate the start of a new year with my sister.

What an incredible comeback victory we watched on New Year's Day! It was an amazing day of football, but the MSU win in the Cotton Bowl was the perfect ending to a fun football season that started for us with the first tailgate on Labor Day weekend. So proud of my alma mater.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. I knew right away that was your sister. You two look so much alike. Detroit doesn't have the best reputation, so I am glad to hear someone say it is having a resurgence. We are always in bed hours before the new year arrives so no celebrating here. :) Wishing you all the best, Tammy

  9. Looks like fun!! We had a quiet night with our son and his g/f feasting on turkey (our 1st of the season) and board games. A bit different than our usual, but fun nevertheless.
