Reflections on Blogging

This week ( July 11th) marked my third anniversary of the day I first pushed that scary publish button and sent my first blog post out over the Internet. Both then and now, I am thankful for this lovely on line world I discovered that day. I am thankful for the scrapbook I have of the last three years and especially the words and pictures of day to day life that I would never have recorded without this blog.

The blogging world is special and I am so happy to be a part of it. It inspires me daily, pushes me to be better and gives me so many wonderful ideas. It teaches me many things, makes me a better writer and most of all has brought me many friends.

So, I want to say thank you. Thank you for coming here, reading and commenting. Thank you for being kind and supportive. You hear a lot about cruelty in the Internet world, but my experience is different. You all are generous with compliments and quick to give wonderful advise. When I started blogging, my goal was to make a happy, calm space and because of you, I think it is.

Happy Thursday!

  6. I've been blogging since 2007 and also have been amazed at the kindness, love and great friendships formed here. I've met a dozen or so blogging friends in person and have never been disappointed. I'm glad you have discovered the same climate as I have!

  8. Congratulations on three years of blogging, Vicki! I think I've been along for most of that enjoyable, charming ride. I think your blog stands out because it's so personal. It's truly a look into your life - something that is unusual in the blogging world of DIYs, tutorials and sponsored posts. Wishing you continued success - whatever that is in your blogging world. (Everyone's idea of blogging success is different - friends, sponsors, page views, $$$).

  9. congrats on three years of blogging . . . your comments echo my own experience with blogging. And I meant to get back to you about the DSO and fireworks. So fun that you were there. I see you are a fellow Michigander -- nice to meet someone else in my neck of the woods!

  11. I found your blog from Katie Clooney and love it. The recipes sound fantastic and I'm always looking for a new book. I tend to buy more than I read though! This post made me wonder how long I'd been writing my blog and it will be 5 years in September! I can't believe it. Thanks for the memory of hitting post the first time -- yikes!

  18. Vickie, It is a happy calm space. I blogged a year ago July and I agree, its a way to reflect and document, be truthful and realize your gifts. You meet friends along the way and realize there are good people out there. Its a break from bad news. Thanks for you blog and I hope I continue for 3 years too.
