Fall Reading List

It’s still fall, right?  Once again a little behind on things, but these book posts are my favorite to write and I think you like them too, so we will just pretend that it’s not approaching the end of October.

Currently, I am reading all of the Vera Stanhope mysteries by Ann Cleeves, also the author of the Shetland series.  I read the first one some time ago and didn’t really like it or the main character.  But, I decided to give the series another try and my mind was changed.  Should I give the television series a try as well and is Vera portrayed as written?

I’m also going to finally read Where The Crawdads Sing for my book club and am looking forward to seeing if it lives up to the hype.  I’ve heard it’s either the best book ever or unreadable, so I’ll report back.

My fall list has both new to me authors and some old favorites.  There is a legal thriller which is a genre that was popular for awhile, but you don’t come across as often these days.  The Nevada Barr and JoJo Moyes novels both seem to be a departure from their usual style and setting, so I hope they do not disappoint.  The Kristin Hannah novel is an older one, but I recently read a glowing review and realized I had not previously read it.

Happy Reading!

  1. oHHH I need some new reading ideas! thank you vicki! sharing on the weekend edit on Saturday! laura

  2. I don't know any of these particularly but I do love Kristin Hannah. I have only read one Ann Cleeves -- it's a new detective, "Matthew Venn" and the book is called "The Long Call."(or the Last Call?) Either way, it was good and I liked her writing style. I'll try the Vera next. I haven't seen the series.

    1. I read The Long Call and look forward to the next one in the series. Vera is definitely a different kind of main character - took me awhile to like her.

  3. I loved both Shetland and the Vera series! -Jenn

  4. Jojo's new one is on my list too! I still haven't read Crawdads either. I don't know if I ever will. Have a great weekend, Vicki!

  5. I love Ruth Ware and The Turn of the Key is my fave so far.

    1. I didn’t read The Women in Cabin 10, but this one caught my interest.

  6. I wanna read every one of these! Only one I have is Kristin Hannah’s. Liked it!

  7. Thank you for the list. I am having a difficult time reading at night, frankly I am too tired and would love a good book to catch my attention.

  8. Great list of Fall Books to read! Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

Thanks for reading!
