Hot Cocoa with Whipped Cream Vodka

The snow and cold weather has finally arrived in Michigan; typical for January, but late coming in this unusually mild winter. I try to walk with my puppy throughout the winter months, but some days, when the temperature is only in the teens, it might be pushing things a bit. I arrive home with frozen cheeks and it takes a while to warm up. Usually a hot drink does the trick and yesterday I got a bit adventurous and made my hot cocoa into a delicious adult version that warmed me right up.

To make this hot, creamy drink, simply make your favorite version of hot cocoa to start. Sometimes I make it from scratch, using milk and cocoa powder, but k cups in my Keurig work fine too. Add a shot of whipped cream flavored vodka and top with a generous amount of whipped cream. It's so rich and delicious - the very best grown up version of hot cocoa you will ever have and perfect for a cold winter night (or day).

Happy Wednesday!

  1. I've never heard of whipped cream flavored vodka! Really??? As soon as the temps go up just a little, I'm going to have to go shopping . . .

  8. Your picture has me craving a big mug of hot cocoa. I've always done the sugar free Swiss Miss, but for a treat I bought a can of good chocolate mix for my husband. It was out of this world! MY daughter has a slow cooker mix for a crowd and it uses the Hershey's chocolate...Very good! Yay for the whipped cream, I could have that on green beans!!! :)

  11. Great idea. I just purchased a huge bottle of whipped cream vodka to experiment with and so far, it's been a failure. So, I'm definitely trying this tonight! Thanks -Karen

  12. Vicki, Your post reminded me that I had bought some hot chocolate for over the Christmas season. I think I have a couple envelopes left so guess what I will have this evening. Thanks. Sylvia D.

  14. The whipped cream vodka would do me in.

I am not a hot chocolate drinker except when it's really cold. And lately, we have been having some cold days so I think I need to get in the supplies.

    Thanks for Sharing Your Cup!
