No Sew Table Runner {3}

This pretty fabric has been sitting in a drawer since the fall, when I did an update to my dining room decor. I ordered it to use as a table runner, but decided it did not fit with my fall decorations, so I put it away until later. As I was putting away some winter decor, I stumbled across the fabric, waiting there, like buried treasure. It was so easy to use my favorite, no sew method to make a table runner and now I have a perfect addition to my dining room for the spring and summer season.

To make this table runner, simply place an existing table runner on the fabric and pin in place. Using sharp scissors, so your edges are clean, cut around your pattern. Now the fun begins - start to fray the edges by pulling strings. Use a pin to pull the threads, if it is difficult to start an edge. Fray each edge the desired width, but don't worry too much about perfection. The goal is a casual, charm that looks natural.

For the other table runners I have made using this method, click here and here.

Happy Wednesday!

  1. This is really pretty. What Kind of fabric did you use?

  2. Love that fabric:) Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

  3. What a great idea! Sounds so easy!

  4. A great project, and lovely fabric!

  5. Love it! I remember edging a wraparound skirt that way and it was always a hit. Just a suggestion for those of you who do sew - stitch a line at the base of where you want the fringing to end (1/2") and you won't have to worry about it fraying when you wash it.

  6. Brilliant! And perfect for the not-so-crafty like myself!

  7. Cute fabric and I like the frayed edge! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  8. So pretty! And I adore ths casual style!
    I hope you will stop by my blog tomorrow and share this on the Something to Talk About link party!
    Have a great week!
